Allen T. Myrvik, age 84, resident of Edmore, ND, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND.
Allen was born March 23, 1934 in Grafton, ND, the son of Alfred and Alma (Stensland) Myrvik. He was raised on the family farm in Highland Center Township, near Edmore, ND. He attended the township school then graduated from Fairdale High School in 1952. Upon completing his education, Allen began working for the Farmers Union Oil Company at Edmore. He worked there for a total of 44 years, 29 of which as manager. He retired in 1999. Allen married Opal Veum on October 19, 1957 at Hoople, ND. They made their home and raised their family in Edmore. Allen was active in the community and church. He was a member of St. Hans Lutheran Church until its’ closure, then a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Allen served on the council of both churches, the Edmore Memorial Rest Home Board, the Edmore Historical Society, and was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. He loved to watch NASCAR races, attending car shows, and local auto races. He also became a collector of model cars. Allen loved spending time with his family and never missed a school function that involved his grandchildren.
Allen will be deeply missed by his wife, Opal; 3 children, Terri & her husband Galen Bosh of Park River, ND, Dale Myrvik of Fargo, ND, and Darin & his wife Julie Myrvik of Grand Forks, ND; 3 grandchildren, Kristin Bosh and Morgan & Paige Myrvik; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Dean; and 1 brother & his wife, Clifford & Shirley Myrvik.
The Funeral Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND, on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Hans Lutheran Cemetery near Edmore. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Wednesday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
