Deloy N Kiefat

Deloy N. Kiefat, age 91, died Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Aneta Parkview Center, Aneta, ND. 

Deloy was born March 19, 1928 in Rugh Township, Nelson County, North Dakota to George and Lena (Hansen) Kiefat.  Deloy was baptized and confirmed at Logan Lutheran Church, rural Aneta.  Deloy enlisted in the Army during the Korean conflict and was deployed.  During his deployment he was injured and spent several months recovering from his injuries.  When he returned to the United States he married Eileen Schmidt on September 15, 1952.  Deloy and Eileen made their home north of Aneta on the family homestead and farmed for over 50 years.

Deloy and Eileen enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.  Deloy was active in the community serving on many boards and councils.

Deloy is survived by his six children: Dean, John, Douglas (Karen), Wanda (Dave) Stordahl, Mark, and Laurie (Todd) Grimm; grandchildren: Lisa (Russ), Krystal (Donovan), Michael (Amanda), Leah, Derek, Sara, Tiffany (Kori), Justin (Anna), Chelsey (Bud), Bryan, Lynda (Justin), Candice and Caitlyn; great grandchildren: Rachel, Rebecca, RJ, Olivia W., Violet, Silas, Kole, Mattie, Emma, Harper, Heidi, Brody and Olivia L. and baby Kiefat due November, 2019, sisters, Shirley (Dean) Bentley, Mildred Mork, brother, Raymond, sisters-in-law, Janice Schmidt, Jean Kiefat, Gilma Schmidt, brothers-in-law, Ervy (Judy) Schmidt, Russell Schmidt, Lloyd (Dorcas) Schmidt and many nephews and nieces. 

Deloy was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lena, wife, Eileen, brothers, Alvin and Lawrence, sister, Linda, mother and father-in-law, Erwin and Gertrude (Wolfgram) Schmidt, brothers-in-law, William Mork, Kenneth, Curtis and Mickey Schmidt, Curtis Ellenson, sisters-in-law, Ileen Kiefat, Bernice Kiefat, Lois Ellenson, Freda Schmidt, Dinnie Schmidt, Charlotte Schmidt and Diane Schmidt. 

Visitation: Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 5 - 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Funeral service: 2 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Sundahl Lutheran Church.  Interment will be at Logan Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.  Military honors will be by Edward A. Broberg American Legion Post #16 and North Dakota Funeral Honors Team.
