Denise Stenberg

Denise Louell Stenberg, age 63, of Pekin North Dakota, passed away January 6, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society, Lakota, ND.

She was born October 1, 1956 in California, the oldest daughter of Dennis and Marilyn Stenberg of Pekin, ND. She lived briefly in California before the family returned to North Dakota. Denise was a graduate of Tolna High School. She then went on to the University of North Dakota where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Education. Her first teaching job was in New Mexico where she taught Special Education for 10 years. She then moved to Wyoming where she continued her career of teaching those with special needs. During her tenure there, she furthered her education by obtaining her Master’s Degree in Education.

Denise was preceded in death by her father Dennis Stenberg; her sister Nancy Stenberg; her granddaughter Emma Jacobson and nephew Daniel Bogers.

She was a member of Pekin Lutheran Church. She enjoyed music and spending time with her family.

Denise is survived by her daughter Nicole (Todd) Jacobson of Crookston, MN; her mother Marilyn Stenberg of Lakota; three grandchildren Nathan, Ava, and Vivian Jacobson; her brother Jason Stenberg of Pekin, ND; three sisters, Nadine (David) Salwey of Swisher, IA; Melissa Stenberg of Minneapolis, MN; and Laurel Bogers of Cedar Rapids, IA.  She leaves behind may other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2020 from 2 to 5 p.m. at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND.  A memorial service will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. at American Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND.  Interment will be in spring at Warwick Cemetery.
