Edith E. Larson

Edith E. Larson, age 97, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Michigan, ND, died Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.

Edith Evelyn Sandlan was born June 21, 1921 at Piney, Manitoba, the daughter of Henry and Inga (Torkelson) Sandlan.  As a young girl her family moved to a farm near Edmore, ND.  She attended the Triumph School and the Derrick School.  Edith married Alf Larson on June 18, 1943 in Lakota, ND.  They moved to Michigan in 1947.  Edith operated the Michigan Café for many years before working at the nursing home in Michigan.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a strong work ethic.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and care giver of other family members in her home.  Edith loved gardening, canning, baking, sewing, playing cards, and family gatherings.  She was a member of the Michigan Lutheran Church and a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary of the W.L. Cowper Post #238.  Alf died September 30, 2001.  Edith continued living in Michigan until she moved to the Good Samaritan Society in 2010.

Edith will be deeply missed by her 4 daughters, Lucille (Jerry) Neary of Milwaukee, WI, Elaine Larson (Rhonda Buhr) of Michigan, ND, Susie Schultz of Michigan, ND, and Lori Larson of Grand Forks, ND; a son, Allan Larson of Grand Forks; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son & daughter-in-law, Glenn & Sharon Larson; a granddaughter, Casey Schultz; 3 brothers, Kenneth, Leonard, and Earl; and 6 sisters, Lila Sandlan, Norma Seldon, Della Mack, Daisy Haugland, Mae Geer, and infant sister Kay.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, rural Brocket, ND.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
