Eileen Kiefat Obituary

Eileen AnnaMae (Schmidt) Kiefat passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Aneta Parkview Health Center, Aneta, ND.

Eileen was born on 10/04/1930 at home in rural Niagara, ND to Erwin and Gertrude (Wolfgram) Schmidt. Eileen attended Petersburg Public School, graduating in 1948 as Valedictorian of her class. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota where she graduated with her teaching degree. She taught school in Argusville, ND before her marriage. She spoke fondly of her teaching days and her students.

On September 15, 1952, Eileen married Deloy Kiefat at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Niagara, ND.  After their marriage they farmed the land Deloy’s grandfather homesteaded.
Six children were born to this union: Dean, Fessenden; John, Plymouth, MN; Doug (Karen), Wright,WY;  Wanda (Dave) Stordahl, McIntosh, MN; Mark, Aneta; Laurie (Todd) Grimm, Moorhead, MN. 13 grandchildren: Lynda (Justin) Rotvold, Bryan Lee, Tiffany (Kori) Behunin, Justin (Anna) Kiefat, Chelsey (Bud) Lawson, Lisa (Russ) Neumiller, Krystal (Donovan) Wiesz, Michael (Amanda) Kiefat, Leah, Derek & Sara Kiefat and Candice & Caitlyn Grimm. 12 Great Grandchildren: Rachel, RJ, and Rebecca Neumiller; Olivia, Violet and Silas Wiesz; Kole, Mattie and Emma Behunin; Brody and Olivia Lawson; Harper Kiefat.

Eileen’s family was her joy in her life. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, her friends and traveling. She crocheted every member of her family an afghan. Music was also a passion for her and she shared that with her Logan Lutheran Church family as well as her own family. She was a member of the Aneta Homemakers Club for 50 years and a member of the ladies aid group at Logan and Sundahl churches as well as a member of the Aneta Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Kenneth, Curtis and Palmer (Mickey), sister Lois, and brothers-in-law Alvin Kiefat, Lawrence Kiefat, William Mork and Curtis Ellenson.

She is survived by her loving husband Deloy, all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers Lloyd, Russell and Ervy, sister Janice, brother-in-law Raymond (Bernice) Kiefat, sisters-in-law Shirley (Dean) Bentley, Millie Mork, Jean Kiefat and Ileen Kiefat, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation Monday, July 2 from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7 p.m.  Funeral Tuesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. Both will be held at Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta. Interment will be at a later date at Logan Cemetery near Aneta.
