Gary Andrew Walen

Gary Andrew Walen, age 68, of Cooperstown, ND died Friday, August 10, 2018 at Cooperstown Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Gary was born December 26, 1949 in Carrington, ND, the son of Andrew and Gladys (Hoyt) Walen.  He attended school in Sutton, ND.  He lived with his parents and loved to hunt, fish, play ball, and drive tractor in the field. 

Gary entered the Griggs County Care Center in October 2002 and made it his home.  He liked to watch Westerns and basketball games, play bingo, and visit with friends. 

Gary is survived by his mother Gladys Walen of Cooperstown, ND, brother Alden Walen of Sutton, ND, nieces Tara Walen of Cooperstown, ND and Jessica (Curt) Jacobson of Amenia, ND, nephew Drew Walen of Fargo, ND, great nieces Tenley Jacobson and McKenna Jacobson, great nephew Layne Jacobson, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Andrew Walen and grandparents Elmer and Helen Walen and Fred and Agnes Hoyt.

Funeral services for Gary will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND.  Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Glenfield Cemetery, Glenfield, ND.
