Grant T. Settingsgard

Grant T. Settingsgard, age 89, resident of Park River, ND, formerly of Edmore, ND, died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at First Care Health Center in Park River.

Grant Thomas Settingsgard was born March 11, 1928 on the family farm in Newland Township of Ramsey County, near Edmore, ND.  He is the son of George and Theoline (Staven) Settingsgard.  He attended the Newland School and Edmore High School, graduating with the class of 1946.  Grant married Donna J. Preston on September 17, 1949 at the Lutheran parsonage in Edmore.  They lived in the area and farmed with George.  Grant also had various other jobs during the winter months.  The couple purchased the Settingsgard family farmstead, where they raised their 4 children.  Grant devoted his time to family and farming.  He enjoyed tinkering with his old tractors and he loved his dogs.  In October of 2013, Grant & Donna moved to Park River.  Donna died May 16, 2016.  Grant continued living there and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore.

Grant will be missed by his 2 sons, Lee & Barb Settingsgard and Kendal & Marcia Settingsgard; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife; 2 daughters, Colleen and Glenna; and 2 sisters, Doris Settingsgard and Marion Morseth.

The Funeral Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, Edmore, ND, on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  Officiating will be the Reverend Jodi Myrvik.  The organist will be Lois Myrvik.  Interment will be in the spring at the Edmore Cemetery.  Grant’s grandchildren will serve as casketbearers.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
