Keith Wayne Monson

Keith Wayne Monson, age 71, resident of Cooperstown, ND passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Cooperstown Medical Center.

Keith was born in Sharon, ND on August 12, 1947 the son of Kenneth and Wilmina (Sutter) Monson.  He grew up and attended rural school in Cooperstown, graduating Cooperstown High School in 1965.  He completed his bachelor’s degree from NDSU.  Keith farmed for several years in the Cooperstown area.  He married Pamela Wrangham on September 24, 1977.  Keith was not afraid to say he ‘loved her a lot’.  After farming he worked for Griggs County 319, Dakota Turbines and RCIS as an insurance adjuster.  He enjoyed hunting, guns, fishing, golfing, archery, projects on the farm and spending time with his family.  He served on many boards and organizations, most notably the Griggs County Water Board, The Griggs Steele Wind Development Group, M-Power LLC, Griggs County Empowerment Zone and the Cooperstown EDC.    

Keith will be missed by his wife Pamela of Cooperstown, ND, daughters Jill (Pat) Larson of Hannaford, ND and Kami Recla of Raleigh, NC, son Lance (Taylor) Monson of Thompson, ND, grandchildren Jenna, Eli, Sawyer and Gabby Larson, Austin and Lauren Recla, Julia, Brittany and Willa Monson, sister Julie Hoverson, brothers Dennis (Jo Ann) Monson and Dean (Carol) Monson, all of Cooperstown, along with many nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law David Hoverson, son-in-law Benjamin Recla and father-in-law Gayle Wrangham.

Memorial services for Keith will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sheyenne Valley Lutheran Church, rural Finley, ND.  Visitation will be Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.  Interment will be in the Sheyenne Valley Cemetery, Finley, ND.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Cooperstown Ambulance Service.  Arrangements with the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel.
