Kenneth “Doug” Thompson, age 81, resident of rural Lakota, ND, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at the NCHS Hospital in McVille, ND.
Kenneth Douglas Thompson was born August 19, 1937 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Kenneth and Cecile (Balsley) Thompson. Doug graduated from Doyon High School with the Class of 1955. He then attended Mayville State College. Following college he served in the National Guard. Doug married Janet Munro in 1957 and they settled in Las Vegas, NV, where he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser. Doug married Bonnie (Howard-Phillips) in 1981. He was loyal member of the Zelzah Shrine Temple, spending many years as a member of the Horse Patrol. He moved back home to North Dakota in July of 2006.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Janet, Bonnie, five infant children and an infant brother.
Surviving is his daughter, Laurie Marie and her husband Frank Kranitsky of Doyon, ND; his step-daughter, Shannon Marie (Wet) Thomas of Las Vegas, NV; one step-granddaughter, Audrey Jean; three siblings, Peggy (Lyle) Moltzen, Clifford (Debra) Thompson, and Debby (Rick) Marquart; many nieces and nephews.
A Service in remembrance of Doug will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday September 13, 2018 at the Lakota Lutheran Church, 416 3rd St W, Lakota, ND. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
