Wayne A Walen

Wayne Walen, age 66, of Glenfield, ND died Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Sanford Broadway Medical Center Palliative Care.

Wayne was born July 6, 1953 in Cooperstown, ND the son of Milton and Verna (Hoyt) Walen.  He grew up and attended the Glenfield-Sutton school, graduating in 1971.  After high school, Wayne went to Lake Region in Devils Lake where he played college baseball.  He graduated in 1973. 

On February 28, 1975 Wayne married Debra Tweed in Hannaford, ND.  Eventually, the couple settled in Glenfield.  Their son, Jeff, was born July 7, 1977.  Wayne farmed with his father and many area farmers throughout his life.  He retired from farming in 2013.  Wayne enjoyed woodworking, collecting guns, fishing, and especially hunting. 

Wayne is survived by his wife Deb of Glenfield, son Jeff Walen of Warren, MN, grandchildren Cody Bakken and Serena Walen of Courtenay, ND, parents-in-law Monroe and Bette Tweed of Tolna, ND, sisters-in-law Marcy (Bruce) Kjelgaard of McHenry, ND and Jill (David) Morken of Pekin, ND, and many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dianna Jackson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Prairie Faith, Glenfield, ND with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at the church.
