Alan J. Miller

Alan J. Miller, age 72, resident of Brocket, ND, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Devils Lake, ND.

Alan James Miller was born October 20, 1949 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of James W. and Marian A. (Pederson) Miller.  He grew up in Brocket, ND, and graduated from Lakota High School in 1967.  He married LaVerne Shirley Zahradka on May 24, 1978.  After high school he attended college at the University of North Dakota for a brief time.  He made the beginning of his career by doing carpentry work and later moved on to farming with his uncles, his brother, and his nephew Matt until retiring the end of 2019.

Alan was a wonderful husband and father.  He was a handy man that could fix anything.  He could always remember a wonderful story from the past to go along with any current situation.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne; son, Casey (Andrew Jorde) Miller; brother, Randy (Lisa) Miller; 2 sisters, Lori (Bruce) Anderson and Shari (Mark) Gisvold; brothers-in-law, Larry (Barb) Zahradka and Lyle (Shelley) Zahradka; and many nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death his mother & father, Marian & James; sister, Shirley (Allen) Kleven.

Services for Alan will be private, with burial in the Hoff Cemetery, rural Brocket, ND.
