Alice F. Rude

Alice F. Rude, age 80, resident of Pekin, ND, died Friday, August 27, 2021 at the NCHS Hospital in McVille, ND with her children by her side.

Alice Faye Webb was born March 18, 1941 in Owatonna, MN, the daughter of Stanley and Esther (Messner) Webb.  She was raised on a dairy farm near Medford, MN.  She attended school and graduated from Medford in 1959.  She then moved to North Dakota after graduation and farmed with her father.  Alice married Norman A. Rude on June 5, 1960 in Dahlen, ND.  They raised dairy cows and farmed cropland near Pekin until 1990, when they retired following a farm sale.  Alice was well known for her delicious cooking and baking.  She had started her own small catering business.  Some of her biggest accomplishments were Alice’s Country lefse, numerous dozens of homemade buns, several birthday/graduation/wedding cakes, and home-style cooked meals for events.  She was a cook at Tolna School for a short period of time.  Alice also served on the Tolna Senior Citizens Board and was the ladies aid treasurer at Sheyenne Lutheran for several years.  Let’s not exclude what she enjoyed the most in life: being a bingo caller for Tolna Senior Center, bartending at Jamie’s Place in Pekin, playing cards/dice with family & friends, and going to the casino.  She enjoyed playing the piano and listening to music.  Country and oldies were some of her favorites.  Her sense of humor, contagious smile and laugh would fill anyone’s heart with joy.  Quality time spent with friends and family especially with her grandchildren, is truly what she treasured the most.  Her heart that loved, never aged and her fun-loving personality is what many admired the most.  Norman passed away November 12, 2006.  Alice continued living on the family farm until July 17, 2010.  She then resided in Pekin, ND until April 2, 2019 when she became a resident at the Nelson County Care Center in McVille, ND.  She loved to sport Croc shoes and was known as Mama Alice to facility staff.  A sincere thank you to the NCHS Care Center and hospital for providing nursing care and fulfilling all her personal needs.  Your love and compassionate care did not go unnoticed.  Her family is forever grateful.

Survivors include her 7 children, Cindy (Tim) Walz of Parkston, SD, Norma (Leon) Lippert of Parkston, SD, Allen (Lisa) Rude of rural McVille, ND, Jody (Russell) Bye of Tolna, ND, James (Sarah) Rude of Pekin, ND, Amanda Rude of Grand Forks, ND, and Sandra (Jeremy) Johnson of Grand Forks, ND; 14 grandchildren, Jason, Kimberly, Chad, Michelle, Kayla, Jordyn, Derik, Sabrina, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Samantha, Alex, Brennan, and Jarrett; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 brothers, Milo & Kenneth.

The Memorial Service will be held at Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Pekin, ND, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
