Amelia J. Kjelaas, age 93, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Fairdale, ND, died Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.
Amelia was born November 3, 1927 in the Spirit Lake Nation, the daughter of George Two Bear and Margaret Ross. She was united in marriage to Earl Kjelaas on June 5, 1970 in Fairdale. They made their home on a farm near Fairdale. Amelia worked as a CNA at nursing homes in Osnabrock and Park River. She was also employed at the missile base in Nekoma, Sioux Manufacturing, and the Spirit Lake Casino. The couple moved to Park River in 2011 and in 2013 moved to Edinburg. Earl died May 9, 2016. Amelia then lived in Devils Lake until she moved to the Edmore Memorial Rest Home. She moved to the Lakota Good Samaritan Society in 2019.
Amelia is survived by several extended family members and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Earl.
The Funeral Service for Amelia will be held at Mountain Lutheran Church of Adams, ND, on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Cemetery near Fairdale. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
