Carole A. Rysavy

Carole Ann Rysavy, 80, of Lawton, ND, died Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society Lakota with family present.

Carole Ann (Karna) Rysavy was born January 10, 1941 in Michigan, ND.  Carole was one of 14 children born to Oscar and Eleanora Karna.  The family shortly thereafter moved to Lakota, ND where Carole lived until she married William Rysavy on June 1, 1958 and moved to the farm near Lawton, ND.  She attended Mayville State and received her teaching degree.  She taught elementary at Sharon, ND and later in Lawton, ND.  When Lawton School closed, she taught kindergarten at Edmore, ND until her retirement.  Carole shared her knowledge and her love with all of her students as if they were her own for 32 years.  Carole was an active member of Lawton Lutheran Church.  She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.  Her family meant the world to her and with her big smile and kindness for all, how could you not love her?

Carole will be greatly missed by her husband, William; three children, Kevin (Kerry) of Lakota, ND, Craig (Kathy) of Perham, MN, and Shelley (Lyle) Zahradka of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Terry, Travis, Casey (Angie), Brooke (Kellen), Tanya (Trevor) and Marissa (fiancé Ian); six great grandchildren, Wyland, Max, Linkin, Lennox, Kian and Ira; step-grandchildren, David (Samantha) and Emily (Hunter) both of Fargo; step-great grandchildren, Finnley and Nora; two brothers, Robert Karna, Mandan, ND and Steve Karna, Lincoln, ND; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Eleanora; a son, Terry; seven brothers, John, Oscar Jr., Donald, Gerald, Richard, James, and Michael; and four sisters, Kay DiCristina, Joan Fisk, Karen Reineke and Susan Olson.

Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  There will be a Graveside Service at the Lawton Cemetery on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.  Officiating will be the Reverend Jodi Myrvik.  Serving as casketbearers will be her sons, Kevin and Craig; son-in-law, Lyle; grandsons, Terry, Travis, and Casey.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to an organization of your choice or the Lawton Cemetery, 10217 – 62nd Street NE, Lawton, ND 58345.
