Charles "Bud" Loe Obituary

Charles “Bud” Loe, age 87, resident of McVille, ND, died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the NCHS Hospital in McVille.

Charles DeWaine Loe was born April 17, 1935 in McVille, ND, the son of Leonard and Ella (Tangen) Loe.  He was a graduate of McVille High School.  Bud married Kathryn Flaagan on December 28, 1954 at Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND.  Kathryn died July 23, 1997.  The couple lived in Tolna from 1955-1958, farmed south of McVille from 1958-1966, and moved into McVille in 1966.  Bud worked for the Nelson County Highway Department from 1955 until his retirement.  He and Kathy owned and operated the Burger Basket in McVille from 1974-1980.  Bud played amateur baseball for many years, he loved horses and horseback riding, driving in the country, and golfing.  He was an Elvis fan and was known for his sense of humor.  Bud was a member of McVille Lutheran Church and the McVille Golf Club.  Bud sang at numerous events, weddings, and funerals.  In his retirement years, he sang with the Old Tyme Kings at various nursing homes.

Bud will be missed by his 5 children, Denice Christofferson of Chandler, AZ, Jeff (Cathy) Loe of Thief River Falls, MN, Susan (Terry) Callies of Fargo, ND, Teri (Dave) Cresap of Perham, MN, and Curt (Lee Ann) Loe of McVille; 12 grandchildren, John (Nikki) Christofferson, Leah Christofferson, Kelsey Christofferson, Brian Loe, Kayla (Christopher) Lian, Thomas (Kate) Loe, Cody Callies, Ben Callies, Brandi (Nate) Holleman, Jordan Cresap, Carter Cresap, and Tyler Loe; 15 great grandchildren, Chloe, Samantha & Nora Christofferson, Eva See, Parker & Kora Loe, Kellen, Everett, Jackson, Beckett & Declan Lian, Harrison & Leighton Loe, and McKinley & Asher Holleman; special friend, Rhoda Lund; brothers-in-law, Robert Stenson and Odell (Ilyce) Flaagan; sisters-in-law, Elaine Loe, Janet Haugen, and Margie (Tracy) Henningsgard; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; son-in-law, John Christofferson; 4 sisters, Phyllis Jean Kroke, Shirley Ann Olson, Lois Nesheim, and Connie Stenson; and a brother, Keith Loe.

The Funeral Service for Bud will be held at the McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 12:30 p.m.  Interment will be in the spring at the McVille Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
