Dennis R. Matejcek

Dennis R. Matejcek, age 72, resident of Brocket, ND, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at CHI-St. Alexius Hospital in Devils Lake, ND.

Dennis Ray Matejcek was born November 18, 1951 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Kosobud) Matejcek.  He was raised and attended school at Brocket, and also Lakota, graduating with the Lakota High School class of 1971.  He then attended NDSSS at Wahpeton and earned an Associate Degree in diesel mechanics.  While in high school, Dennis began going south with a custom harvesting crew from Brocket.  For many years, Dennis was an over the road trucker.  He had been to all of the lower 48 United States and all of the Canadian provinces.  In recent years, he was driving for Altendorf Trucking.  Dennis enjoyed carrying on conversations with anyone he came across, and loved cracking jokes.  He was well known for his sense of humor.  He loved to make people laugh.  He had a smile that could brighten your day and a laugh you could hear a mile away.  He enjoyed tinkering with cars and tractors, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Lindsay (Jason Ruud) Matejcek of West Fargo, ND; 2 grandchildren, Kylen James Mattson and Cambria Rae Mattson; 2 sisters, Carol (Dwight “Bud”) Bump of Albany, WI and Shirley Morgen of Brocket, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Funeral Service for Dennis will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at the WFL-Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
