Edwin J. Hejlik, age 95, resident of Lakota, ND, died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.
Edwin Joseph Hejlik was born March 19, 1925 on his parent’s farm west of Brocket, ND. He is the son of John and Caroline (Zeman) Hejlik. He was raised on the farm and attended the Newbre Township School. Edwin then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his discharge, he began farming with his father and brother, Richard. Over the years, Edwin and Richard took over the operation of the family farm. He farmed all of his life until 1987, when he moved to Lakota. On April 9, 2013 Edwin became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society. He was totally devoted to the farm. He loved working and living on the farm, and the farming lifestyle.
Edwin is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann of Washington; 4 nephews, Jim Wright, Don Wright, Dick Wright, and Gerard Hejlik; and 1 niece, Rosalie Leben.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Sylvester and Richard; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Wright and Evelyn Berg.
Edwin’s Funeral Service will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Monday, August 24, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Brocket, ND. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
