Frances Kilen Obituary

Fran Kilen, 75, Cooperstown, ND passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 peacefully at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown.

Fran was born April 2, 1946 in Sharon, ND to Clarence and Clara (Sletten) Kilen. She worked for the Mandan School system and as an electrician’s helper at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. The highlight of her life was her son, Todd Kilen, who came into her life on September 13, 1966. She was forever affected by his loss in 2000.

Fran loved fried chicken, Coke, potato chips, watching Little House on the Prairie, football, and calls from brother Steve.

She was preceded in death by her son Todd, her parents, sisters Charlotte and Joy, and her nieces Valerie, Tammy, and Charlene.

She is survived by her sisters Shirley, Hawaii; Donna, Washington; and Evelyn, Oriska, ND; brothers Buddy, Tower City, ND and Steve, California.

Her family would like to thank the Care Center for their patience and understanding with Fran and especially for her last birthday celebration which included a margarita for her and family, and for looking the other way while she enjoyed a cupcake and smoke outside. Fran leaves behind an excellent staff and her good friend Heather.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND. Interment will take place at a later date.
