Kamillia "Kamy" L. Skalicky

Kamillia “Kamy” Skalicky, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Valley Senior Living on 42nd in Grand Forks, ND.

She was born November 21, 1924 in Latona Township of Walsh County, near Lankin, ND, the daughter of Frank A. and Pauline (Zahradka) Shirek.  Kamy married Edward Skalicky on October 26, 1944 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brocket, ND.  They had one daughter, Louise.  They farmed near Lawton before retiring to Grand Forks in December of 1991.  Sadly, Ed passed away on December 12, 1991.  She spent many summers at the farm and lived independently until 2014, when she moved to Wheatland Terrace and later, Woodside Village.

Kamy was a busy farm wife, enjoyed tending her large garden, flowers, sewing, needlework, journaling, writing letters, going to the casinos, cooking, baking (trying new recipes), shopping trips with her daughter, entertaining (you never left without a lunch), and dancing with Ed.  She and Ed were active members of both church and community, and always stepping up to the needs of others at any time needed.  Kamy and Ed loved travelling to visit family and friends, and developing many great friendships over the years.  Kamy continued to travel with her daughter until she was 91 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Louise; sister, Hattie Strand; sisters-in-law, Susan Shirek, Loretta Lala, Catherine Pesek, Sr. Elizabeth Skalicky SCL, and JoAnn Connelly; numerous nieces & nephews, and many close friends.  All were very special to her.

Kamy is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Bill and Frank Jr.

Private services will be held.  Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Brocket, ND.
