Lenora J. Dahlen

Lenora J. Dahlen, age 90, longtime resident of rural Dahlen, ND, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.

Lenora Jean Bakken was born March 1, 1931 in Carpio, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Mable (Johnson) Bakken.  One year later, the family moved to farm in Clara Township of Nelson County, ND, where she attended the Cleveland School for 5 years.  The family then moved to a farm west of Lakota, where she graduated with the class of 1949 at Lakota High School.  She then worked at the drug store and Super Valu store in Lakota.  Lenora married Orville Dahlen on June 8, 1953 in Michigan, ND.  They farmed their entire life together and raised their family on the Dahlen farmstead.  Lenora worked at the Dahlen Mercantile Store for over 20 years.  Lenora and Orville loved dancing, camping, golfing, attending hockey games, and spending time with grandchildren.  They retired from farming and, in 2003, moved into Michigan, ND.  Orville died January 18, 2011.  Lenora enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, and gardening.

Lenora will be deeply missed by her 3 sons, Dale (Connie) of East Grand Forks, MN, Wayne (Sheila Gemar) of Spicer, MN, and Loren (Tammy) of Grand Forks, ND; 10 grandchildren, Jody, Mitchell, Craig, Matt, Hillary, Derek, Nick, Jim, Stephen, and Laura; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marlin (Carol) Bakken of Silver Bay, MN; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; infant son, Chad; granddaughter, Amber; brother, Milton Bakken; and 2 sisters, Audrey Bakken & Lavern Kelley.

The Funeral Service for Lenora will be held at the Dahlen Lutheran Church, Dahlen, ND, on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at the Middle Forest River Cemetery, rural Dahlen.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Dahlen Lutheran Church.
