Lorraine Edlund Obituary

Lorraine Edlund of Binford passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 24, 2020, just 2 days after the birth of her 44th grandchild.

Lorraine Larson was born at Mose, ND on January 20, 1933 to
Lawrence and Gertie Larson. She graduated from Binford High School and was
baptized and confirmed a Lutheran, and her faith remained strong throughout her
life.  She married her high school sweetheart, Lyle Edlund, in 1950, and
they spent the next 65 years together, until Lyle passed away in 2015.
Lorraine spent her life taking care of others: her grandmother, her children,
her Uncle Louie, her parents, Lyle’s parents, and Lyle, at the end of his life.
She was a wonderful cook, baker (her chocolate frosting was the BEST),
and lefse maker.  Her fresh buns and caramel rolls were amazing.  Her
family loved to gather and eat her delicious chow mein and homemade vegetable
soup.  Lorraine would get up at 4 a.m. in the fall and roll lefse.
She hosted most of the holidays at her home, and always had a full,
made-from-scratch meal, including dessert and whipped cream.  She spoiled
us all!  She was also very creative in other ways, she could knit,
crochet, and sew.  There are many of her “Gramma Lorraine” quilts out
there keeping people comfortable on cold days and nights! Lorraine was never
idle, she was always busy, and always thinking of others.  If she heard of
someone in need, she was there to help.  Lorraine had many good
friends!  If you knew her, you knew she was always pleasant, and she had
the BEST laugh!

Lorraine loved to read and do crossword puzzles if she wasn’t
creating something.

First and foremost in her life, Lorraine was a daughter, wife,
mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.  That was what really mattered to
her the most.  She gave her family everything she had, in every way.
She had a warm, happy home, you were always welcome there, and she
always had a cup of coffee and a fresh-baked treat ready for you.

She is survived by her children:  Lannes (Elaine) Edlund,
Shelley (Ron) Halvorson, Kathy (David) Brandt, Julie (Bruce) Sedler and Kristy
(Brian) Gader.  She is also survived by her brother, Lester (Sherrile)
Larson, sister, Lisa (Jean-Nat) Jacquemetton,  14 grandchildren, and 44
great-grandchildren.

There to greet her in Heaven are her parents, Loren and Gertie,
her husband, Lyle, grandson, Chad Gader, and her in-laws, Kenneth and Alice
Edlund.

Mom, we will always miss you.

Because of the Covid 19 virus, there will be a private family service at the Binford Cemetery.
