Robert "Bob" J. Vasichek

Robert “Bob” Vasichek, age 76, resident of Michigan, ND, died Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.

Robert James Vasichek was born September 26, 1945 near Brocket, ND, the son of James A. and Rose (Bina) Vasichek.  He was raised on the family farm and attended Perth #1 through the 6th grade.  He then attended Michigan Public School, graduating in 1963.  Bob continued his education at Mayville State College and Dakota Business College.  He then enlisted in the Army National Guard and served from 1966 to 1972.  Bob married Carmen Hartze on April 20, 1968 in Regent, ND.  They lived in Fargo for 4 years while Bob worked for Northern Improvement as a bookkeeper.  On April 1, 1972 they moved to a farm near Brocket, ND and farmed with his brother, Dick.  Bob raised Tarentaise cattle and retired from farming in 2007.  He started the Vasichek Insurance Agency in 1999 and retired from insurance in 2010.  Bob had Parkinson’s Disease for 22 years, and in spite of this he lived a full and active life.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing cards, and socializing.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Charter member of the Rainbow Lodge, TX4 Tarentaise, and was a 4-H Leader.  He was known for his great sense of humor and as a practical joker.  He loved meeting and talking to people, and had a genuine interest in others.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Carmen of Michigan, ND; son, Shawn Vasichek of Fargo, ND; daughter, Denae (Marlen) Dahlen of Dahlen, ND; 3 grandchildren, Michael & Kaitlyn Vasichek and Tegen Dahlen; brother, Richard (Bonnie) Vasichek of Michigan, ND; 2 sisters-in-law, Norma Vasichek of Michigan, ND and Linda Vasichek of Lakota, ND; and several cousins, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, James T. and Thomas; nephew, Jeff; and great-niece, Josie.

The family would like to thank all the staff of the Good Samaritan Society for all their loving care and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church, Michigan, ND, on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the WFL-Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND.  Visitation will be held at the Church on Sunday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
