Winifred M. Borah

Winifred M. Borah, age 87, resident of Aneta, ND, died Monday, June 6, 2022 at her home in Aneta.

Winifred Mildred Vining was born February 27, 1935 in Courtney, ND, the daughter of Dick Howard and Mildred (Severson) Vining.  She grew up on a farm near McHenry, ND.  Winifred married Alfred Lloyd Borah on June 1, 1956 in McHenry. Her main interest was in education.  During her Junior year in high school she was snowed in on the farm for 3 months during the school term, waiting for the airplane to fly over and to drop off mail and books you could receive from the North Dakota State Library.   In her Senior year she stayed with an aunt in Valley City, ND, and graduated from College High.  She then attended a summer program for teachers of rural schools in North Dakota.  She started out teaching in a rural one-room schoolhouse in Foster County.  She continued her education and received her 2 year standard for North Dakota teachers of elementary students.  She then continued her education and received her 4 year degree from Mayville State College with summa cum laude recognition.  She again continued her studies to become certified in special education.  At the conference of the special education people she was given an award as being number one for that year in their field.  Her favorite hobby was making dolls (many) and also the clothes that they are wearing.

Winifred is survived by her husband, Alfred Borah; 2 children, Wallace Lloyd (Lori) Borah and Shareen Kay (Merlin) Eberhardt; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Lloyd Borah, Kurt Lang Borah, Kyle Lance Borah, Don Al Eberhardt, Ryan Robert Eberhardt, and Shanna Briggs; 12 great grandchildren, Payton, Silas, Hunter, Hudson, Sydney, Jaden, Asher, Sielah, Logan, Zachary, Elijah, and Olivia; a brother, David (Joann) Vining; 3 sisters, Elaine Willows, Lois Heyen, and Marie (Jarald) Topp; and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick & Mildred Vining; grandson, Blake Borah; brother & sister-in-law, Darrel & Marlys Vining; and 2 brothers-in-law, Ray Willows and James Heyen.

The Memorial Service for Winifred will be held at Sundahl Lutheran Church of Aneta, ND, on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the Silent Hill Cemetery, rural Aneta.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Silent Hill Cemetery.
